This is probably the 20th version of my personal site. I think having a personal site is important in the tech space, or even as a serious hobbiest for the blogging aspec. Having just recently moved, causing me to set up my homelab again, I realized I don’t have any personal documentation. While I was able to muddle my way through the problems I wished I had actually taken some notes so I wouldn’t have to research topics and problems I already had.
Why? 🤔
Why another iteration? Quite simply, I’m not that interested in web dev for a career… at least currently. So instead of hacking together my own site for a portfolio, I figured I would fork someone elses template and tweak it to what I needed. Being that I work in a NOC/SOC the most obvious progression is into security, networking, or SRE. I also will host my documentation for my homelab and whatever else here so I stop having to research that same things over and over.
How?
Thanks to the work of Mark Horn and their project astro-nano I’m done reinventing the wheel. The site offers what I need in a format that I can expand on without needing to spend time on building out a starting point. Since I’ve been spending more time on iOS development, sysadmin, networking, security, and chipping away at learning Unity, this was just a logical choice.
So what’s the point?
Last time I added a blogging section I made lofty goals of bi-weekly blogging or something else insane. This time I’m just shooting for one post a month with a minimum of 1 a quarter, starting in 2025.
Next blog in this list should be a rambling about my homelab and homelabs in general. Probably be a good one to read with a coffee.
